We went with the my family a few weeks ago and got family pictures taken.
Here are some of my favorites.

Me and my four brothers.
(No, I am not pregnant. Although in this picture I look about 5 months along.)

My mom has such a surprised look on her face. I don't know why. This is how it always looks when we all get together. Usually they are all fighting to be on grandma's lap.

I like this picture. It shows that true sibling rivalry. It starts so young. They were fighting over the chair the second the photographer brought it out.

I look at the pictures of my kids and cannot believe I already have a three year old and an almost 17 month old. Only 6 more weeks until nursery!! YAY!! I love my kids! They are so much fun. We took them camping this weekend and they loved it. It was a little rough, but anything for fun family memories!

Davis County Fair

Our family is a huge fan of the fair. Mostly it is because of me. I was in 4-H when I was younger and we went every year to see the things I entered into the fair.
We go every year now just because it is cheap entertainment and so much fun.
Claire was able to ride on a pony. She was a little nervous at first, but really loved it by the end.

They also had a petting zoo with goats and a llama. Claire thought it was pretty cool to be so close to them. I honestly think it is gross. I am not an animal lover at all. But I think it is good for my kids to see all the animals and it is cheaper then the zoo!

We have been growing a garden this year. It has been so much fun. I love taking the kids outside and showing them the garden. This week the corn was ready to pick. We cooked it within minutes of picking it. It was so delicious. Claire ate 3 cobs just herself.

Claire and Nick

Here are pictures from Claire's birthday party. She is such a funny girl. We love having her apart of our family. Tonight I wasn't feeling very well when Nick got home so I told him to just find something for Claire to eat. He asked her what she wanted for dinner and she said,
"Go ask mom. I bet she will know what to feed me."
I love that she already knows that mom has all of the answers.

Claire's birthday was in July, but I had to post pictures for Sarah who lives back east and couldn't make it for the big party!!

Claire definitely got spoiled. She got a pink vacuum from Nick's parents and doesn't understand that it is pretend and doesn't really vacuum. She usually tries to vacuum at the same time as me and gets so mad when I vacuum something that she already has.

We also got to celebrate Nick's birthday on Thursday. He is 28 now! I am always so kind to remind him how old he is getting. It just makes me feel less old.

We have pretty much been partying since his birhtday. Nick has an aunt here from California and then one of the cousins from Washington state got married in the Bountiful temple so the whole Doutre family has been here in Utah. We love it when they all come. We just eat and talk and can't believe how fast the time goes by.

Claire is 3!!!

Our little girl turned 3 today. I can't believe it was three years ago that I was in labor with her for 15 hours. I am so glad I was blessed with a forgetful mind. Tonight is her big party. Pictures will come later of course. We can never have balloons at our parties because she has this weird phobia of balloons. I asked her why she is so afraid of them. Her reply was this, "I don't like them because they go up in the sky." Maybe she is going to be the environmentalist of the family. We are so happy to have Claire in our family. She is constantly saying funny things and making us laugh.

Yesterday we went with some friends to the awesome and FREE Riverdale Splash Pad. We had a blast and can't wait to do it again.

This is Claire and her BFF Kashlyn. They love playing together. For Claire's birthday I told her we could go out to lunch. She said she wanted to go to Arby's and get a roast beef sandwich with grandma and her friend Kashlyn.

Memorial Day and Las Vegas

For Memorial Day we went and saw my Grandma and Grandpa's graves at the Syracuse Cemetery and then we went up to the cabin in Morgan. Claire and Nick spent most of the day on the 4-wheeler. Claire was so scared at first, but by the end of the ride she didn't want to get off and kept asking when she could go again.

Eli is so easy going. All day he just played with this cup and straw. Why do I even buy toys for this boy?

SIN CITY BABY!!

Nick taught Claire to say that. So whenever you would ask her where we were at she would say,

"SIN CITY BABY!!"

This is a picture of us on the way down to Las Vegas. I can tell you that we were a lot happier on the ride down then the ride home. Eight hours in the car with a one year old is not fun!!

One of the first things we did was go to the Bass Pro Shop. They had a shooting range that Nick fell in love with. I won't let him have a gun so he had a blast shooting and trying to teach Claire and me how to shoot.

We also went to the wax museum. It was so much fun.

Me and my cousin Shaylee fell in love. I have many pictures with Tim!

The kids were so cute when we were in the hotel room. They kept chasing each other back and forth in this little hallway. They were laughing and giggling so hard.

We had so much fun in Las Vegas. We loved spending so much time with extended family. We love being together.

On our way home we stopped at Cove Fort. It was really neat. We learned a lot about pioneer history and all that went on there.

April Adventures

I can't believe how fast time goes by. It is already the end of April. We started this month out with a wonderful Easter and new church clothes!!

Our next event was Eli's birthday party. I can't believe he is ONE ALREADY!!
He is the best little guy. We love him so much and we are so glad he is a part of our family. Doesn't he look so much like his daddy?

I think he had enough cake and enough pictures taken.

We had two parties for Eli. One with Nick's family and one with mine. These were my helpers setting up for the second party outside! I apparently am great entertainment!

We have this toy that is a little hand clapper that Eli has loved since he was tiny. It was a toy that would always cheer him up. I just happened to be in Old Navy the day before his birthday and found this giant hand clapper. He loved it. This one even lights up!

Where Has All of the Time Gone?

Here is Claire. This is the most recent picture I had of her. I think I took it in January. I am so bad at taking pictures of my kids. I use to be so good when Claire was a baby. Don't mind the dirty face. It was either this picture or one of her at Christmas. I thought this was a better choice since Christmas was more then 2 months ago.

Here is Eli. He is the best boy ever. If all boys are like him I would have at least 3 more. One night I was busy with dinner and Claire said to me, "I think he likes it." I think she is right. She was so nice to share her licorice with him.

We have had a very busy few months. That might explain why it has been so long since I posted last. Nick is serving as the first counselor in the Elders Quorum Presidency and in January they put me in as Mia Maids Advisor in Young Womens. I love it. It is so busy, but it helps time go by quickly. I just discovered that Spring is only16 days away!! We are so excited! This year we have grass to play on!

I am excited for warm weather to open up my windows. We have had some very sick kids this winter. I feel like I need to open the windows and let all of the yucky germs outside!!

Just a quick update: Everything is going really great!! Halloween was a lot of fun with Dorothy and the Cowardly Lion. We went to a Trunk or Treat/Chili Cook Off on Halloween night. Claire got a ton of candy and Lorie and I entered a chile recipe. I had never made chili before so it was lots of fun (but despite my heroic efforts to get the smell of Garlic off my hands it still lingers on my fingers). When we were walking around the parking lot we had to avoid the kids in scary costumes because Claire, who is scared of many normal things, was freaked out by the costumes. I guess for good reason.

Lorie and I are both working hard with our new callings and enjoying them. Eli is just a happy, smiley, laid back baby and he now rolls over (if he feels like it). Claire is totally potty trained is giving us a run for our money because she has mastered the art of talking back. We hope it is a short phase and not a personality thing. She still makes us laugh so much. The day after Halloween was Sunday and Claire asked if she could take her little pumkin bucket to church again and get more candy.

What a Whirlwind!!

Things have been so crazy at our house. We got moved in, unpacked and we have just finished putting the sprinkler system in. This Labor Day weekend has been spent leveling the ground for sod to be delivered on Friday! I can't wait for the day that I can wash our front door and have it stay black instead of looking brown from all of the dust.

Nick is working hard and long hours. That is something that I wasn't expecting. I was so excited to have him finished with school so I could see him at night. Well, this last week he didn't get home until 9 o'clock every night. He promised he wouldn't make it a habit.

Claire is now 2. We have been working on potty training. She has done so well. I am still afraid to go too far away from the house for fear of an accident or having to find a bathroom in the middle of a traffic jam. She is very smart and keeps us laughing. The other day I was sitting on the floor reading the newspaper and she kept running on it making it difficult to read. Nick asked her to give me some space, so she reached out her empty hand and said, "Here you go, mom!"

Eli is now 5 months. Crazy how fast they grow up. At his 4 month check-up he weighed 18 pounds. We grow`em big in our family! We just started cereal and vegetables. So far he enjoys them all!

We love our house and have loved living so close to family, but miss Logan and our friends up there. I was able to visit Logan a few weeks ago and had a lot of fun with some old friends.

Our Newest Blessing

Here are a few pictures of our house. We closed today and we hope to get keys on Monday. We are really excited to have a new home but it is kind of shocking to have our life savings gone and to be in debt up to our eyeballs. Also, I don't know if we will post much more before we move next week. We aren't planning on getting internet for a while so posts may be (even more) scarce.

Eli's Blessing

Sunday we were able to bless Eli. We had a dinner after with family and friends. We worked so hard in the yard to have it look nice and it ended up raining. I think it is a Newbold curse.
I am so grateful for Nick and my beautiful little family.

Just an update on our crazy lives. We were able to finally find a home we liked. It seems like it has been forever, but really at has been only a month and a half. We are closing on it sometime this week and moving in maybe Saturday. I will post pictures soon.

Nick is working hard and loving it. Claire has picked up the bad habit of hitting everyone. She spends a lot of time sitting on a chair in timeout. I love that she is getting older. Her personality is starting to come out more and more each day. She makes me laugh so hard sometimes. She always has the funniest things to say. Eli is on two different types of medicine and we think it is finally starting to help his colic. He is starting to act like a normal baby now. Last night he slept for 6 hours. It was the best sleep I have had in about 9 months. I am enjoying being home with 2 kids. It has definitely been an adjustment to have 2 of them.

Graduation, Moving and Tumbles

Welcome Home

We were able to make it home today. It is nice to be taken care of by all of the nurses, but it is great to be in the comfort of your own home. I just thought I would post some more pictures.

This is Eli on his beautiful rag quilt that Nick's mom made for him. It turned out so cute!

Here is Claire meeting Eli for the first time. We took her down to my parents Wednesday night with a cold. My mom called Friday morning and thought that Claire had an ear infection. In between visitors Friday, Nick was able to take her to the doctors office. Sure enough, she has an ear infection in her left ear. I feel pretty lucky though. This is only her second ear infection and my mom is keeping her until Monday. Hopefully she will be better by then.

Welcome Eli Nicholas Newbold

Well folks... HE IS HERE!!!!!!!!! On Thursday April 16th 2009 at 7:01 PM Eli Nicholas Newbold was born. He weighs in at 8 lbs 4 oz and is 20 inches long. The top picture isn't very good of him, but you can see that Lorie is a champ!! She did great and is already feeling good. I don't even think she broke a sweat.

Now that I look at all of the pictures it seems like he is crying in almost all of them. I don't know if you can see it here, but he has quite a bit of bruising on his face. When he started to get his pink color I thought that he was born with a 5 o'clock shadow. It was just the bruising. The nurse said that it isn't a big deal, but at the same time they put a note in his crib that says that his face is bruised so that other nurses don't look at him and think he is turning blue for lack of oxygen.

The day started at 5:30 AM (well, it started for Lorie who couldn't sleep after 4:00 AM) with us getting ready to go in to the hospital. We called at 6:00 AM to see if they had room for us to come in. They had a bunch of women come in at once and were all booked so they said that they would let us know. That was tough because we were so ready to go. We went back to bed for a few hours, but really hardly slept. We got up and decided that we would take advantage of Claire being at Grandma's house by cleaning and packing for our move. We got a lot done. We were about ready to go out to get some supplies when the hospital called and told us to come in at 12:30 PM. In the words of Brian Reagan "One thing led to another and..." we have a new baby boy.

Easter and the BIG DAY!

I just had to post this cute picture of Claire in her new Easter dress. I just thought she looked so cute in it. We had a wonderful Easter weekend. We were able to spend a lot of time with family and friends. I forgot to take the camera, so this is the only picture of Easter that I have.

Thursday is our BIG DAY! I am being induced. I am very nervous. I feel like I am having our first baby all over again. With Claire, I went into labor on my own. This little boy just doesn't seem to want to come on his own. I think I am nervous because I have heard so many stories of women being induced and it ending in a C-section. That is my worst fear. I don't know why it scares me so much? I am sure everything will be just fine. Keep checking and we will post pictures of him on Thursday.

The Sun is Shining in Logan

The sun really isn't shining, but I sure wish it was. Yesterday Nick was offered a job with a company in Woods Cross, UTAH!! That's right!! We get to stay here close to our families. Nick will be a Design Engineer for a company called ECI. He will graduate Friday, May 1 and start work Monday, May 4.

We thought getting a job would help our stress levels to lower. Boy were we wrong! Now we are having to make so many adult decisions so quickly like what insurance plan would be best for our family, whether or not to buy a house a.s.a.p. or not and where are we moving to until we can find a house. Luckily, my parents have the room and have offered to let us live with them for a few months until we find a house.

I am so excited for Nick and for our family. He has worked so hard to get here and is still working extremely hard to get through these next few weeks of school. We are so happy to have a job and are so thankful for all of our family and all the prayers they have said for us and all of the encouraging words.

We sure are going to miss Logan. I don't think we realized how much we have loved living here until now and talking about moving. We have sure had great experiences and made lots of great friends that we are going to miss a ton.

Claire's Favorite Things

Claire has a new obsession with stuffed animals after her Great-Grandma Goldsberry bought her the pink rabbit from All-a-Dollar. For a week she would not let it out of her sight. It went everywhere with us. Now she has to have them all sleep by her.

Claire's 2nd favorite thing is yogurt. She loves it. She would eat it for every meal. Most mornings I wake up to her at my bedside saying, "Mama, want yogurt."

I haven't posted in a long, long time. Just an update on me and Nick. I am 34 1/2 weeks and as miserable with heart burn as a pregnant woman can be. I have tried everything from bread and milk to Tums and Zantac. Currently, I am taking Prilosec. It costs almost $1 per pill, but is worth every penny. I am finally able to lay down to sleep. My due date is April 20, but my grandma had a dream that I had him on March 27. Let's hope her dream comes true!

Nick is on Spring Break this week. You would never know it. He is still working and when he is not working he locks himself in the back bedroom and does homework.

We are looking forward to Nick graduating the end of April. We are looking for a job. So far we haven't had any luck finding one here in Utah. We have now started applying to places out of state. We have applied from California to Maine. I hope we won't be as far away from our families as Maine, but we will just be very blessed to have a job.

Getting Ready

This weekend we were able to set up the crib and I found an awesome deal on this cute crib set from Target. I got the whole crib set for $16!! Can you say BARGAIN!!!

We also found a store in Ogden that has unfinished furniture. We found a dresser and Nick, my handy man, finished it. It turned out great!

We are getting so excited to have a little boy. I thought I wouldn't be able to find as cute boy things as I did pink things for Claire. I was wrong. I am so excited to dress him like a little man.

Last week I had a doctors appointment. I was 27 weeks, but measuring at 29 weeks. That was great news to me! I would love to have him come 2 weeks early!

Christmas And An Update

Here is a picture of Claire on Christmas morning. She got a talking Elmo. She loves him so much. She calls him "Melmo" and carries him around everywhere with her.

Claire also got a new Sunday outfit. She just looks so cute in it. This was the best picture we could get of her in it. We have a hard time getting her to hold still. She is definitely a busy body! I am looking forward to having a boy next so I won't have to do hair, but I do have to say, little girls are so cute in pink!

Just a little update on us...Things are going well. We are right on schedule to be having our new little boy join us in April. Nick is working hard on his last semester! We can't believe it is here, but we are so glad that we are almost done with school. Claire is doing very well. This week was Claire's first week to go to nursery. She loved it!! I had to drag her out screaming so we could go home.

Winter and the Flu have arrived at the Newbolds

This week has been horrible. It started out with Claire getting the stomach flu and I was the not so lucky one who caught it from her. Me and Nick are so grateful for neighbors who are so willing to help with Claire. I spent all day Friday not being able to keep anything down and a temperature of 100.6. Nick came home early from work to help with Claire. At about 5 we called my doctor to see if we needed to be worried about me getting dehydrated and something being wrong with the baby.

Around 8:30 we sent Claire over to our friends house and Nick and I went to the Emergency Room. Because I am 23 weeks along they didn't want to take any chances and sent me to Labor and Delivery. Everything was fine with the baby. I was extremely dehydrated. Two bags of IV fluid and 3 hours later they sent us home. I also got some medicine to help with the nausea. I am so thankful for modern medicine.

We are all doing much better and are ready for Christmas. We hope you all have a safe and happy holiday.

Snow Day in Logan

This morning we woke up to snow on the ground. I got Claire all dressed up and we went and played in it. She wasn't to sure about it at first, but then I showed her that you could eat it!!

How to Kill a Professor

Usually Lorie does all of the posting, but I thought that I should tell a funny story.

The day that we took the family pictures was an interesting day. We were waiting at Old Main
Hill at Utah State for our photographer friend to come take the pictures. While we were waiting one of my professors, Dr. Calliendo (he has us call him Dr. Joe), was flying down the hill at about 30 mph on his bike. I yelled out to him and he put on his brake right then, fishtailed and his tire caught on the grass and he went flying over his handle bars. I ran down to him, about a hundred yards away, and when I got there he was out cold with blood all over his face. I finally got him woken up, but he had no idea where he was or how he got there. I told him who I was and what had happened. He remembered my name and it stuck with him, but he still wasn't sure who I was. He was able to give us his wife's name and number, so we called her and got to come get him. While we were waiting for her to come I introduced Lorie and Claire to him about 20 times and told him the story of how he got there another 20 times. It was very interesting. Also while we were waiting I remembered that his son (Frank Calliendo, not the comedian)is a professor as well so I called him to come down. Dr. Joe had no idea who his own son was. The good thing is that he was laughing along with us and being funny as usual. His wife got there and she took him to the hospital. Turns out that he had a massive concussion, broken nose and no memory of even being at the hill. It was a very interesting day.

We are super excited to announce that we are having a boy! I am only 14 weeks along, but we went in for an ultra sound and the doctor was able to tell. She was 90% sure it is a boy. I will go in again for a more detailed ultra sound in a few more weeks to be 100% positive.

For dinner we had spaghetti and I think we have discovered Claire's favorite food. To top it all off, she started pulling funny faces. We were lucky enough to get it on camera. I ended up just throwing her in the bath. I didn't even know how to start cleaning her up.

Claire's New Bed!

Last weekend we decided to switch Claire from her crib to a real bed after two nights of her lodging her arm and leg in between the bars of the crib. She has done great in the new bed! It seems like she hasn't even noticed.

Claire turned ONE on July 16th!

We had a party for her with all of the family and had so much fun! Claire loved opening up all
of the presents! I was worried she would get bored, but she just got frustrated every time Nick would take a toy away from her to have her open up the next present.

after we took the candle away she got down to business and

The McCann Family and Arriving Home

Our last stop was in Rancho Cordova, near Sacramento. We stopped to visit with Nick's family, the McCanns. After we left we realized we hadn't taken any pictures. I guess we just got busy having a good time with them.

We finally ended our trip Friday night. We reached Logan around 5:00 pm. Claire was happy to be out of her car seat and out of the car. I wasn't so excited because that meant it was time to start on the mounds of dirty laundry.

We stopped in San Francisco for a fast visit. We were able to tour Alcatraz.

Hide and Seek

When Claire was in the playpen the girls started playing their version of hide and seek with grandma. They hide while grandma counts. When grandma is done counting to ten, they run out from their hiding spots and scare grandma. It is the easiest game and most favorite for grandma to play. What a beautiful place!
On Sunday we went for a drive up in the mountains to see these huge trees. Here is our family picture in front of some of the trees. It was an amazing thing to see.Here is the Gailey bunch that came to California!

We love swimming!

This was at Aunt Dayna's house. We had such a good time playing in her swimming pool! It was hard to leave, but we sure enjoyed it while we were there.This is Claire and Grandpa Greg!

Road Trip!!

This past week we have been in California with my family. It took us 12 hours to get there. Claire did very well for being almost one and stuck in a car seat for that long. This is one of the more enjoyable moments of the ride.

I just wanted to add a few things to show off Claire a little more. We could probably change the name of the blog to reflect that it is mostly about Claire, but maybe that won't always be the case. Anywho, here is a little clip of Claire crawling and a clip of her cute laugh. I also wanted to let people see her new Easter duds. I hope to soon get a video of her growling. The growl has been fairly elusive to the camera so far.

Hat Day and Vampire Day...

It is time once again to add to the blog. I just have a few things to add this time. We had a hat day a few weeks ago. Claire was just hangin' with mom and dad and they started puttin' hats on her. It was a great time. I love the picture with her in dads beanie. Mom was taking the picture and I was the one that she was looking at. It is like she is thinking "What are you doing to me?"

The next day we were doing our nightly routine of cereal, bath, bottle and bed, when I looked down at her and saw her morphed into her night time form. It is very rare to see something like this in nature. She had become.... a VAMPIRE!!!!! The hard part was hurrying quickly enough to grab the camera before she closed her mouth. She is the highlight of our lives. We are hoping that we figure out something more to do on weekends then to just take pictures of our sweet daughter.

As for the rest of our lives, we are trying to get over this winter and all of the snow. We are also trying to get back over the weather after all of us being under the weather for a while. School is going well, work is not going quite as well. Lorie has her new job as a crossing guard, and we are waiting for tonight to find out what calling she is going to get in the ward.

Happy Birthday Mom!

So this isn't really a newsflash, but when you get older your mind starts to go. You confuse things, dates, names, etc. The older you get, the worse it is. Take for example Mom's 61st birthday party. Planned an executed with exactness, except for the candles on the dessert parfaits. I guess the one who is really having a trouble aging in Emily, the candle buyer. Happy #61!!

Red - It's A Doutre Thing

me that there was a lot of red in these pics. I guess I have this mental thing about red (or navy). When I get dressed and I am wearing red, I think I am dressed just like Mom or her sibs would. I always wonder if I will be the only person wearing red when I go visit the fam. Do you ever feel this way? Em

Kids definitely make Christmas more interesting.

The decorated tree on the table, wrapping and rewrapping presents, and the joys of sugar highs and washing all the treats off. I do have some pics with Claire and Isaac that I will try to put on soon.
